My&nbsp;name is Zainab, and&nbsp;I\u2019m&nbsp;a PhD student at the University of Glasgow,&nbsp;and I was born and raised&nbsp;in the south side of&nbsp;Glasgow. My love for science began at school, thanks to an inspiring biology teacher who showed me how exciting the subject could be. I went on to study microbiology, fascinated by how tiny microorganisms can have such&nbsp;a huge impact&nbsp;on our lives. During my degree, I discovered that I loved research and working in the lab, which led me to pursue a PhD. My research focuses on communities of microorganisms called biofilms, how they cause infections in wounds, and exploring new ways to treat them.
