The European Marine Energy Centre (EMEC) provides a testing ground for wave and tidal energy technologies, an untapped renewable energy resource. We are based in the Orkney Islands, an archipelago in the north of Scotland. Through our work we try to establish new innovative energy technologies which are at their early stages. In our case, this involves marine energy devices tested at sea and also using them to produce green hydrogen.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

This work doesn\u2019t only require technical skills. Sure, EMEC works with plenty of engineers, biologists, oceanographers, and technicians, but we also have non-technical officers who use skills and effort to build relationships with other people across sectors.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

It may seem obvious but without the will of people, a clean energy transition cannot happen. People can intervene in politics and policy, they can develop new supply chain sectors, they can act as communities to embrace new changes (like new forms of energy), and ultimately can even act as individuals by changing their own behaviours. And these are only a few examples!<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The power of people working together is immense. In this recorded live session, I will take you on a journey to Orkney to find out what EMEC is doing through building relationships with people to support Scotland\u2019s (and the world\u2019s) clean energy transition.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Francesca supports the delivery of EMEC\u2019s stakeholder engagement activities, maintaining strong relationships with key stakeholders, in particular communities and policy-makers, to build support for EMEC activities in pursuit of a clean energy transition.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
