It&nbsp;visualises&nbsp;scientific data, to create stunning and thought-provoking artworks, using Antarctic&nbsp;data-sets&nbsp;that explain important and exciting science stories.&nbsp;In this exhibit, we showcase two of BAS\u2019s DATA AS ART projects: Polar Aesthetics and Virtual Antarctica.&nbsp;&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2>Polar Aesthetics: Art of the Arctic and Antarctic&nbsp;&nbsp;<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>What hidden histories written in polar ice can contemporary art reveal?&nbsp;Royal College of Art PhD candidate Wayne&nbsp;Binitie&nbsp;in collaboration with British Antarctic Survey explores this question through three installations: Solid Series, Liquid Series &amp;&nbsp;Vapour&nbsp;Series.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-embed is-type-video is-provider-youtube wp-block-embed-youtube wp-embed-aspect-16-9 wp-has-aspect-ratio\"><div class=\"wp-block-embed__wrapper\">\n<iframe loading=\"lazy\" title=\"V&amp;A Exhibition\" width=\"640\" height=\"360\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/qFqqt1WrpCI?feature=oembed\" frameborder=\"0\" allow=\"accelerometer; autoplay; clipboard-write; encrypted-media; gyroscope; picture-in-picture\" allowfullscreen><\/iframe>\n<\/div><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p><\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2>Virtual Antarctica<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>Experience Ice Floor, a new Arup commissioned installation about climate change, by UK born artist, Wayne Binitie, in collaboration with BAS.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-embed is-type-video is-provider-youtube wp-block-embed-youtube wp-embed-aspect-16-9 wp-has-aspect-ratio\"><div class=\"wp-block-embed__wrapper\">\n<iframe loading=\"lazy\" title=\"Ice Floor by Wayne Binitie: an installation about climate change\" width=\"640\" height=\"360\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/YuVfJDxUtfM?feature=oembed\" frameborder=\"0\" allow=\"accelerometer; autoplay; clipboard-write; encrypted-media; gyroscope; picture-in-picture\" allowfullscreen><\/iframe>\n<\/div><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>In Phase 1 of this project, British Antarctic Survey&#8217;s Creative Services Manager, Pete Bucktrout captured 3D images of the BAS offices and laboratories at Cambridge and at the Antarctic and Sub-Antarctic facilities.
