In this live session, we\u2019ll be joined by Toni Newell, Planetarium Officer at Dynamic Earth. She\u2019ll be answering your space questions, talking about her favourite space facts, and finding out how Scotland is a superstar when it comes to building space technology!<\/p>\n\n\n\n

About <\/strong><\/strong><\/strong>Toni Newell<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Nearly 25 years ago, I visited a planetarium at a place called Jodrell Bank – I remember learning how to find the North Star using the Big Dipper – and I haven’t stopped stargazing since! I went on to study Astrophysics at the University of Manchester where I got to use some weird-looking telescopes to study weird-looking dead stars at the very same Jodrell Bank. It was here where I also started Science Communication – chatting to people all day, everyday about my favourite topic, space!<\/p>\n\n\n\n

After graduating, I did teacher training and then moved to Edinburgh where I now work in the planetarium at Dynamic Earth. Here, we get to make and present all sorts of shows about volcanoes, the ocean, climate change and -of course- space. We also have an inflatable planetarium which looks like a big blue igloo which we take all around Scotland so I\u2019ve got to see some amazing places too.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

When I\u2019m not in the planetarium, you\u2019ll probably find me playing netball or teaching our guinea pigs tricks!<\/p>\n\n\n\n
